No Famine or Feast

Tonight the Raffle produced another "Tray of Meat", five T-Bones, next week may not be a feast, but it will not be famine either, it will be enough to see me through next week as far as
meat supply is concerned, 2006 started quite well, one prize last week and another tonight, I'll
be quite happy to win a prize whenever I buy some Raffle tickets.

I'm sorry about the quality of the picture,
I did not remove the plastic covering, but
the meatlooked top quality! The proof will come
when I cook it.
As far as the fishing goes, during the next week or
two, I will replace the fishing line presently on the reel,
with a lighter (lower strenght) line, someting with a breaking
strain of around 20 LB (9 Kg) that should be strong enough
to hold any fish that I'm likely to hook( as you all know, I don't
seem to hook any huge specimens, but if I do, you all be made aware of it.

Wish you all a nice week ahead.

First Fishing Trip for 2006

Sunday 22nd. was the day for our first fishing trip for 2006,(being the 4th. Sunday of the month)
The conditions were very nice, and the fishing was very rewarding ( for some) on my part I got 10 fish! But there will be 11 more outings, so I'll have my chance to increase my catch. (At least I can try)
But it really was a nice day on the water.
The boat closer to the camera is our"boat" some of the "fishermen" and a very nice sunrise!

Wishing everyone

Happy Australia Day

Back on the winning wagon

After missing out on a win last Friday,
I had a bit more luck tonight, after
missing three prizes by just a few numbers,
I won one, even if it was a "consolation" prize. As you
can see it was a bottle of RED wine, I don't know how good it is
(2004) vintage, but if I cannot go to sleep tonight,I'm sure it
will help me go to sleep! (I am only joking) I'm a good sleeper!
Hope I'll have more good news to write about after our fishing trip on Sunday.

It is good to be back on line

It is great to be back on line!Because of some "power surge" my modem decided that it would not work again, luckely it was replaced at no cost to me, but then the computer would not "see" the new modem throught the USB, so had to have an " ethernet" card put in the computer and finally we are back on the air.
Had quite a few e-mails to read trough.
Nothing much has been happening in the garden department, mainly due to rainy weather.
Will try my luck again ot the Raffle tomorrow evening," won nothing" last week,
so I must be in line for a prize!
Sunday coming "22nd.of January" is fishing day again, so I'm hoping for nice weather and hungry fish.We had fish for dinner tonight, from the previous outing.
Unfortunatelly, the shop that I usually get my "bait" from has closed down,so I'll have to find somewhere else to buy my supplies!
I will try and take some photos of the boat that we use for our fishing trips, and also a photo of the motley crew that go on it.
By the way, who is this "Constant Gardener" that seems to appear everywhere? He was even in one of the newspaper newsletter that I received this evening, he received some award or other, maybe he has something to do with films,Oh well! I guess we can't all be famous!
Wish you all a nice weekend and hope to be back with you again next week.

Life on the Land

Life on the land has never been easy!It could be Drought, not enough rain, or too much rain,Floods, or it could simply be nature's flying Creatures, and that allows me to tell you about the happenings at BeralaPatch.
To make sure that I picked the Figs instead of the birds, I had to enclose the trees with nets to stop our winged friends getting the Lion's share of the fruit, during the day "Morning usually" even before I get out of bed, (The saying goes that the early bird gets the worm. (In this case, the figs) but during the night we are visited by other winged creatures, the "Flying Foxes" They seem to have a liking for the olives. I was able to take a photo of one hanging on the olive tree, they are cute but I wish they would stop paying a nightly visit!
NOTE
*** By clicking on the symbol under the counter, at the bottom of the page, you should be able to see in which country each visitor resides***
PS. We had another hot day today, the temperature reached 39 o C. followed by an electrical storm, with strong winds (Caused some damage in some areas) and quite a bit of rain.

Hope you all have a pleasant week.

The 1st. Raffle of the New Year-2006

The New Year started with a very hot day, the temperature reached 47.8 degrees in the shade in out courtyard, on a table and under a large umbrella. Quite a lot of plants just could not take it! Also some of the plants in the ground had the same experience. I took some photos to show the effects.

And on a good note, the first Raffle of 2006 saw me taking home a mixed Fruit Tray, I had already taken the leg of Lamb from the freezer, so the potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes and onions will came in handy for a Sunday roast! The Raffle started 2006 on a positive note.

More Christmas 2005 Photos

Just a few more photos from Christmas Day 2005.

Looks like I will have to re-plant everything in the GARDEN as just about every plant was burned by the very high temperatures that we had, up to 47.8 C. in the SHADE,it was just too hot for the plants!
But the FIGS loved the hot weather, I picked some on the first of January.
