Dawning of a new day

Today we went fishing, as it was the 4th Sunday of the month,
it was quite a pleasent day, starting off a little bit windy, but then
the wind died right down, so much so that there wasn't a ripple
on the the water!
Only in the last hour the wind turned to the South (as forecast)
and gradually picked up speed but by then we were ready to
make our way back to land. I have included a nice view of the Sun
making its way up to light up our day.

Then a picture of Spirit of Tasmania on its way to Sydney from
Tasmania (The Apple Island).

On the way back I took a shot of a large ship "Iron ore carrier"?
waiting to enter Port Kembla harbour to load its cargo. Usually

there are a number of vessels at anchour, waiting for their turn
to enter the harbour.

Finally you can see my meagre Catch. Only five fish but, at least
I did catch some because I could not hook any fish 'till the last hour
or so, all in all I am not disappointed as one "the Morwong" weighed
1 kilo ( just over 2 pounds)

Will most probably bake the morwong and fry the others!

The next fishing outing will be on the 4th of March, when I hope
to have a somewhat better catch.

I can hear some rain falling right now, and that is good news for the garden.

Best wishes for the coming week

No winnings.... This evening!

It was a nice evening out to the Club, but again today
the Raffle was not kind!... Two weeks running!
I think I was getting too used to winning every Friday.
I had numbers 13,801 to 13,900. Although five or six
numbers starting with 13 thousand came out, they were
all lower that the ones I had, but not to worry, still have
a lot of meat in the freezer, and I will be going fishing this
coming Sunday, so at least we should have fresh fish
next week.
In the previous story about the Bees, they don't seem to
move away from their "Hive", or fly around, they just
appear to be tending to their "Hive' all the time!
I would like them to do what bees are supposed to do
Pollinate the flowers! I'll wait and see what they will do
in the coming week(s).
Wish you a pleasent week

What kind of bees ? Do you know ?

Do you know what kind of bees these are?
Or are they "Paper Wasps"?
Are they harmful? I am not sure whether to destroy them, or not.
They have set up home close
to a pathway.
Would be grateful for any suggestions.
Many thanks. Posted by Picasa

Wheel of Fortune...Keeps on Turning

As the saying says, You Don't Always Win.
This Friday I did not win anything on the Weekly Raffle,
but that is the way it works, when one does not win,
someone else does!
So this week I have a couple of photos taken in the garden,
the Vegie Patch.

Just a couple of patches ready to sow a few things in,
I will probably sow some peas, and lettuce.
I'm waiting for the pumpkin vines to die down, so I
can harvest the fruit and store them away for later use.

At the moment I only have a few plants of Melenzane
( eggplant ) and some Artichoke, the Figs are all but finished.

Hope to have more to say next week.

Congratulations Marty, you have done a great job with your site!

Anyone that has a few moments to spare, visit Marty's site

See you all next week

More meat for the coming week

Being Friday evening, the Raffle again did not fail me.
For the usual $A 4.50 ,I came away with two meat trays!
One a mixed meat tray and the second a BBQ tray, just as well
that I'm not a vegeterian!

I may try the BBQ on Sunday
or see if there is spare space in the
freezer and leave it for a later
date,I'll see.

Whilst many think of St. Valentine's Day as a time to send flowers
and buy chocolates for "Their Valentines" the gardeners look at the
day, as the time to sow "Sweet Peas", having already prepared the
soil for them, and in time we can enjoy their beauty and fragrance.

A New Year Resolution must not hurry when I go fishing.
Have a nice week and Happy Valentine.

A Sound Investment

Tonight the Friday night Raffle once again proved to be a "Sound Investment".
For an outlay of $4.50, I won a nice Basket, containing, 3 packets of biscuits,1 jar of instant coffee, 1 box of ( 100 ) tea bags.
At one stage, I started to question my well intentioned decision, to
allow a lady to get in line to purchase a ticket in front of me, when
she won a prize, that I would have won had I not allow her to go in front, but as it turned out I won a better prize than I would otherwise have,so it pays to be a gentleman.

Here is another shot of the prize.

Wishing a nice weekend to everyone.
