Tale of a plastic fish

In the blog of last Sunday, in which I told you about our fishing trip.
The chap that was fishing alongside me,wasn't having a great time, so he decided to try an artificial bait.
The plastic fish tried its best to attract a bigger fish,as you can see it had
a piece bitten off,our fisherman friend was encouraged by this,so he
again allowed the line to go to the bottom, and again got a tug on his
line, but this time when he brought the line up, the plastic fish had been
taken. So he continued fishing, but with conventional bait (Prawns) Just after he lost his bait,I hooked quite a nice fish ( Pike), around the half kilo mark. That afternoon when I was cleaning the fish, guess what, inside the Pike I found the lost Plastic fish, so next time I see its previous owner, I'm sure he'll be surprised to get his old fish back.
On reading about my fishing story, one of my cousins from the United States sent me this photo of her son with one of his catches" Somewhat larger"than my catches, but one never knows, the next time that we go out, it may be the time that I will catch a Big one! Or maybe I'll have to go over to the States on holidays, and try my luck over there. By the way I again had no luck at the Raffle this Friday,it is fast becoming a long loosing streak. My olives preserving appears to be going quite well, I took some to one of my grandsons, andhe said that they were the best olives that he has ever had. But then he is very polite!
I will get some photos ready for the next Blog.
Have a nice weekend.

From Australia to India

Indian Dancers and Performers.
The Commonwealth Games have ended in Melbourne, with a colourful parade, the next Games will be held in India.

A few images from the Melbourne
Games closing ceremony,as published
on the M2006 website.

India will no doubt put in a great effort to
match the great show put in by Melbourne.

Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta.

With the great talent that India has, it should be another great spectacle.

March-Fishing Day

Hi! As usual on the 4th. Sunday of each month,we go reef fishing, off the Woollongong coastline.
Today we left the wharf at 5.30am, and started fishing about one hour later,it was a good
fruitful day, with some catching more fish than others, and as is usually the case,I did not top the score, but still manage to bring 15 fish into the boat! I lost two,one somehow when the line broke, and the other....Well it just became unhooked. In case you have not heard it said before, the one that got away, could have been the Fish of the Day!
But I am not conplaining,I had a nice day out,as did the rest of the group.
A big THANK YOU to the skipper.

The Commonwealth Games are coming to a close, after what have been a very succesful and
well run Games.

Well done Melbourne!

And CONGRATULATIONS to all the athletes of the different countries that took part.

Early to bed tonight!

Regards to all, back again next week

Another Medal

William Chetcuti won a Bronze medal for Malta yesterday, to add to
the Silver medal already won by Rebecca Madyson, given Malta, I
think the best results in any Commonwealth Games held so far!

Congratulations.Keep the good work up!

Whilst congratulating all the athletes for their wins, I must admit
that is something that is fast disappearing in the distant past,as far
as winning anything at the Club Raffle goes.
It has now been about five weeks since the last win,it will probably
be a pleasent surprise,the next time that I win a prize,something
to look forward to!

Sunday next the 26th. we will be going fishing again, and this time as
always I'll be hoping to hook a big one,but if I cannot hook a BIG one,
at least I'm hoping to hook something! Who knows....maybe a Mermaid!

Whishing everyone a nice weekend.

'Till next week

Commonwealth Games-Melbourne

Just a couple of photos
from the opening ceremony
of the 18th. Commomwealth
Games-Melbourne.

The weather was fine and as
usual the people of Melbourne
turned out in their thousands, the entrance of the athletes from
all the competing Nations made a colorful
spectacle in all their national costumes.

Today some teams have had success,
whereas others had some disappointements,
but that is the nature of competing.
Each day will bring success and glory to some
and the promise of others to do better next time!

All the participants are proud to represent their country, and to do their
best.

Best wishes to all

Preserving

This evening, as I again did not win a prize at the Friday Raffle, I decided to publish a recipe for preserving olives.

This is one recipe that I have not tried yet,but was told that it works, so only time will tell.

Green Olives
This is a recipe that has been used in Greece for over one thousand years.

Crush olives with a mallet (do not smash) only hard enough to break the skin.
Place in container and cover with water (place weight on top of olives if needed)
So that olives are not exposed to the air, change water daily for 6-7 days (to let bitterness out)

TO MAKE THE BRINE

Use 150g of salt per 2 litres of water, bring to the boil-allow to cool, when cold,
cover olives with the brine, and leave for 6 weeks before use.

* This recipe was seen on channel 9

One can only try! Hoping for a good result.

short delay, but had a bit of trouble

New Teenager

Can you remember the day when you became a TEENAGER ?
It certainly is a memorable day, a sense of growing up, when one
looks to the future,of mixing with adults, going out,of no longer
being a child, and yet knowing that your everydays needs are still
provided by your Parents, one only had to concentrate on having fun!

Yesterday evening we all went to a very nice Japanese restaurant to
celebrate and share this young lady's special day.

Happy 13th. birthday
enjoy your 'teen' years.
