Big Waves & Meager Catch

I said yesterday that I would write an update on our fishing trip.
Well here it is: The waves were pretty large, making it rather hard
to concentrate on the fishing and for me,I was very close to being
sea-sick on a couple of occasions, but I was able to get over it. I managed to catch ten fish, but as you will be able to see, they're not what I would have liked to catch, others did catch some decent fish, but overall it was not a good day out on the water.
Thank you all for taking the time to look at this Blog it is somewhat a non-event, but will try and have something more interesting next time

Reached a Milestone!

As I opened the page,to add another Post,I noticed that I had already published 100 "POSTS" not too bad,
I guess,the 1st. One I think was posted in August 2005.
It is now after 8.00 PM and I will soon go to bed, as I'll be getting up at 2.00AM to go fishing,I hope that
I'll have a good story or two to write about the fishing tomorrow evening, and one or 2 photos also.
I think it will be somewhat cold in the early morning, but I'll prepare a flask of HOT coffee,so that should
take care of the cold, the rest will be up to the FISH
Take care

The Last Raffle in May-A Small Win

For the last raffle in the month of May, I took some of the Family to the Club, for moral support, and also to bring me GOOD LUCK,but it was only partially successful, as I could only manage to win a bottle of Penfolds
Rawson's Retreat Cabernet Sauvignon.
Next Sunday, being the 4th. Sunday of the month,it is also the day of our monthly fishing trip, with any luck I'll have more success on the ocean than I have had with the raffle.

Two views of the same bottle,
at least I should not have any
trouble going to sleep tonight!

Wishing everyone a very
Happy Weekend

A WIN at long last

One should never give up hope!
Tonight as usual on a Friday night, together with my wife and one of the
sons, went to the Dooleys Club
and surprise...surprise, I won one of
the prizes.....a basket of Fruit & Vegies

Actually it is a box
that looks like a
basket!

The fruit looks really
nice,as were the mandarins,
but somehow they did
not quite make it home,
actually someone in the
party took a liking to them, and they were gone by the time we left the
Club
At long last I now have some lettuce and other vegetables growing in
the garden, I transplanted some lettuce seedlings yesterday afternoon,
and looks like they are already over the transplant shock.
I suspended some old CDs over the top, to deter some of the birds.
I hope that the raffle win turns into a longer term occurrence.
The fishing outing is on the 28th of May, so I could have more fishing
news after that. Sometimes the "Fish stories" are BIGGER than the fish!

The humble CHOKO

The Choko is a Poor mans food, someone once
told me that with the chokos, "you get what you put in"
but I find it quite enjoyable, boiled and with some butter,
pepper and salt,it tastes quite nice, there are a lot of ways
that it can be prepared,(If I am not mistaken) ,it was said
that it was the food that helped a lot of people get through
the "Depression".
Up to the early 1950s just about
every house had a choko
vine or two growing in the back-yard.
They climb everywhere.
I have just pulled ours down,
as it was about at the end of its
productive cycle,and besides I
could not reach all the fruits.

"The chokos that only
became visible,when
the vine was pulled down
a bit too old to be used.
They are best picked
when young

The choko vine after it
was cut and pulled down
from the roof of the garage

And this is the resulting
mulch, after"mowed"it,
and on the way to becoming
compost, and then returning
to the soil, and feeding
other plants!

Another Welcome Home for Mum

As the saying goes "There is no place like Home"
She may have been treated like Royalty in Malta
but back home she has had that and much more!
Apart from having had the Red Carpet rolled out
on her arrival at the airport, well .....almost,and
a special Mothers Day lunch,if that wasn't enough
she had a special welcome home dinner at one of
Sydneys finest restaurants, with some members
of the family, compliments of the 2nd. son.

She looks like she is
happy to be back home.

favorite daughter
and son-inlaw.

Lots of nice food, well presented and
nice wine to go with it! I think I lost
count of the courses served, but there
were a lot.
I stuck to mineral water, being the
driver,I had to do that, and we all
got home safely
.

Wife's returned-but LUCK did not

I thought now that my wife has returned home,
luck would do likewise, but it is clear, that is not
the way things work out.
The Queen of Malta returned home on Friday,
so we went to the club together this evening, hoping that she
also bring my Raffle winning Luck back.
But "No such Luck" So not having
much to write about on the Blog
I have been spending some time on
the Web. One of the sites that I have
been looking at in the past, isthis site
from Italy, and I found out that in the last

few days, Rebecca has become a mum again.

It is interesting to see how a bird of prey, can
change from being a hunter to a caring mother
for her young,I guess it shows that Mothers
of all species are all special.

As next Sunday in Australia, we celebrate
Mothers Day
I take this opportunity to wish all mothers
a Very Happy MOTHERS DAY

Photos from our Past

Here we have two old photos, of "Nannu Emanuel"
and "Nanna Cicca"

For the ones that could not open the photos, at least you should be able to get them from here.
Good luck!

Back in Australia

After a lengthy and enjoyable holiday overseas
(Malta) mainly, which afterall is the Best little
Island in the World(her words) Eileen, sometimes
referred to as the(Queen of Malta) by her friends
and relations, returned to Australia on Friday morning.
unfortunately, we could not roll out the red carpet, simply because the one in our possession, just was not long enough.

She did keep those waiting to greet her,at the airport,
a little longer than we had anticipated, but it could
be that important people tend to delay their appearance.
The wait was worth it, she was travelling Light, only had
a few bags, plus a few associated bags. Duty Free bags
She looked somewhat tired after the long trip home,
but after a good night rest, was almost back to her usual
cheerful self.

It will still a few more days, before all the new items,
Gifts, nicknecks and other novelties, are finally placed
in their correct spot. It is a case of " In with the new,
and out with the old"

WELCOME

WE ARE ALL VERY HAPPY TO HAVE YOU BACK

More Photos-Associazione Sarda

A few more photos from last Sunday Associazione Sarda-Picnic held at the
Auburn Botanic Gardens
I thought I'd publish a few more photos,so that more guests could be included.
