New Tomato Plants

Yesterday I planted out some tomato plants,
two different types.
The "Giant tomato Tree" and "Ox Heart"
I had some good results with them last year,
so we'll see what eventuates this year.
Both types are from seed, that I saved
from last year.
I only put in a few plants,as I will grow a few more
as the weather warms up more, just in case it is
still a bit too cold.

Ox Heart Tomato

I also sowed some "Snake Beans".
Harvested the last of the "Cauliflowers"
and also some "Broccoli", as I will
need the space to put new crops in.
After all "Berala Patch" is only a
small patch!
Will try and publish a blog from
"Norfolk Island" next week.
Wish everyone a good week

August Fishing Day

As usual on the forth Sunday of the month the "Dooley's Fishing Club" went for our monthly fishing outing. Today the weather was quite good, very little wind and calm seas, but also very
little current, with the result that a number of "Lines"frequently became "entangled". with the ensuing loss of actual fishing time! I did manage to catch 7 fish, not a lot, but I was quite satisfied with them. We had some tonight, and they very nice, and very fresh! At one stage it looked like a storm front was coming our way, but it passed out to sea from our position, and soon disappeared.

here you can see my modest catch.

And now off to bed,as I'm getting a bit tired, no doubt because of the early exit this morning.

A bit of Gardening news

I also have a few tomato plants, that I raised from the seeds collected from the "Giant Tomato Tree"
that I grew last year,I'll probably plant them out tomorrow, and also plant more seeds, so that I make sure of growing a few healthy plants.
More next time

The Cargo Has Arrived

After a rather long sea trip, the Malta Cargo has arrived. It took nearly 4 months, but the the goods all
arrived safely. As some of you might recall The "Queen of Malta" "Queen Eileen" left Malta to return to Australia and quite understandably could not bring all the GIFTS and PURCHASES with her on the plane, so LOTS of the Royal possessions had to be sent by sea. (Not sure if more than one container had to be used) So yesterday "Friday" we drove to the container terminal and took delivery of the said goods, the only remaining problem was, how to get them to the "Royal Australian Residence" With some ingenuity and a bit of good luck, we were able to transport all the goods back home.
It is nearly time to go to bed,has tomorrow is fishing trip day,and it means that I'll will be getting up at around 2.00am.

Fathers Day Present Arrived early

Fathers Day present arrived early! (2 weeks early) As one gets older, the presents get bigger, who knows in a couple of years time, I could get a new car, I'll have to wait and see.
Inspecting the NEW present, with Adrian, one of four present-givers. Thank you- Roderick, Audrey, Adrian and Jason.
Thanks should also go to the mother Eileen for organising it all, as I'm sure she did. As you can see it is a new large LCD television, already set up in my workshop computer room get away from it all room. With Jason's help, we connected a new antenna and cable, and it is all working perfectly, I'll be adding a few more things, like a digital set-top receiver, and a DVD player, and maybe a connection to the computer, but that is further down the track.
It is Eileen's birthday next Sunday week and it is also Father's day, so we'll be taking a short break on Norfolk Island, a place neither of us have been to. Hope to bring back some nice photos.
Next Sunday is my "Fishing Day"outing, so I hope to have more good news to pass on next week.

Lots of things are happening in the garden front also
SPRING is almost here

New Crop

As the weather warms up, the winter vegies are ready to pick.
One photo of broccoli, ready to be cut. And a mini-cauliflower, also ready for the pot! Small, but ideal for restaurants. Have
been having a few problems in uploading pictures to the Blog. Lets hope that those problems are now past I have quite a few more events to put on the blog, I'll try and do that in the next day or two

IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT

This weeks raffle had a good ending, even if I had to wait until the last number called,to win a prize!
Come to think about it,the last time I won a good prize, it was also won with the last number drawn
then it was a "steam floor cleaner" but this time it was a double prize, an electric heater and an electric blanket, pity that the winter is all but gone.
Still there is always next year!
Or maybe eBay.

Happy Blogging!

Soaking Rain

Today we have received quite a good
bit of soaking rain, and it should condition
the sub-soil for good Spring growing.

Vegi patch in mid-May

The same patch in
mid- June

And as it appeared
near the end of July

This evening again went to the Club, for the Raffle
but this time did not win anything. The coming weeks should be quite a good time to start sowing a few seeds,as they should start to germinate, as the soil start to warm up as Spring approaches Meanwhile there are plenty of chores to do in the shed, away from the welcomed rain.

Happy sowing

Back After a Short Break

A couple of pictures from our earlier trip to the ARBORGLEN wholesales nursery

One of the trucks that Flower Power use to deliver plants to their various retail outlets.

########################
Back home after a short break. Quite a nice week, first a nice day out fishing (on Sunday) then on Tuesday we drove to Tea Gardens for a few days, just relaxing, on Friday we drove to Nelsons Bay to visit some of our friends, and on Sunday afternoon, we returned home to Sydney,my wife went to "Baby sit" "prior commitment" The garden received some rain whilst we were away, so the plants were not too upset at being left alone! My wife also bought some plants, and I now have to find a place to plant them! We took some photos, so I'll try and put some of them on the "Blog"soon.

Some of the LOCALS as seen in HAWKS NEST just across the "Singing Bridge" from Tea Gardens.
