The Fishing Trip ...That Wasn't

This morning, I got up early (2.00am) to go fishing, and everything went as usual, met the other fishermen and off we went to Wollongong, when we got there, some of the others were already there, and we put our gear on to the boat (by this time it had already started to rain) but it was not too bad but as the time went on the weather kept on deteriorating and the wind also started to increase, and it was from the South. When the skipper arrived, he said that it was better to wait for awhile before leaving port, as he did not think that it was a good idea to go out, as the wind was blowing at 25 knots and was increasing, after waiting for another 30 minutes, and no sign of improvement, he decided to cancel the trip, so we put all our gear back in the trailer, including our wet weather gear, and made our way back home. And as was to be expected the rain stopped falling as we got further away from Wollongong and closer to Sydney, but it did arrive eventually. We needed the rain and the fish will a chance to get bigger and wait for us next month!

Have a nice week

Better times are Coming

Tonight as usual I went to Dooleys for the weekly Raffle, but unfortunatelly I missed out again, but I should not conplain, as I got 2 prizes last week.
This coming Sunday we are going fishing and hopefully I'll catch more than last time, it means catching more than ONE fish.
The weather forecast is for some showers and wind increasing from the South, but as long as the fish are biting, we wont mind.
This week we had 2 great big ocean going liners call into Sydney,The Queen Mary, and the smaller sister ship, the Queen Elizabeth 2 I went out on one of the headlands, to see the Queen Elizabeth coming in through the "Heads" and into Sydney harbour, and a great welcome.

New Blogger-New Luck

New Blogger! And Better Luck....Maybe!
Well last night I went to Dooleys, for the weekly Raffle, and after a long no wins period, I got back to the winners circle,by coming up with two(2) prizes.
A leg of Pork, and a tray of mix meat, Sausages, Rump, and some Lamb chops.
So I'm quite pleased with last night results.
Tomorrow,Sunday, some of the family members are coming over,so we can use some of the winnings.

It should keep me happy for one week....at least!

The NO LUCK story continues

It must eventually change,so until then,I'll just keep on trying! On the last fishing outing,I managed to only land one fish,at least the cat enjoyed it,and the Friday raffles have been very rewarding either, but at least I still have the garden to keep me busy, the tomatoes have all finished now and I'm getting the soil ready for another planting, the lettuce seed that I put in a few weeks back, failed to grow, (probably because we went away for a few days) just at the time that they germinated, and with lack of water, they simple died, but I have now put in some seedlings of "Cos" lettuce, so we'll have same lettuce just the same.
The "flying foxes" bats have been very busy eating the fruit from the fig tree, I have tried to get a photo or two, but without too much success so far.
This one is hanging from the olive tree,
yes they like olives too,you can see the eyes shining,I'll try and find one on the fig tree also And here is the one on the fig tree (probably the same one) having a change of diet.

Here is a photo of one of the "gourds"it is somewhat different from the others,at least in the skin texture, some of the others are of a greener colour and have a smoother skin, they should look quite nice when they dry up, we'll wait and see.

Hope I will have some better news on the "Raffle" front next time.
