Garden Maintenance

After the Summer, it is now time to clean up,and be ready for the next crop, now that I've
pulled all the tomatoes out, as I do every year, I cleaned all the soil from the garden stakes
with a wire brush, and then painted them with some wood preserving oil, by doing this, I
have been able to re-use some of the stakes for nearly 10 years. How is that for saving the
forest? But as you can see by looking at the photos, some are getting close to their use
by date, but not close enough yet, maybe next year.

By the way, I again failed to win anything at the Raffle this evening! They had a lot of EASTER EGGS for prizes, but I don't like chocolate that much anyway. This coming Sunday,my wife and I are going on a bus trip, with the "bowlers", from the DOOLEYS Bowling Club, but we are just going for the ride and a day out. I hope that I can take some photos, to use in one of the BLOGS in the future.
Happy Bowling (for some)

Bad Luck Continues

What with NO wins in the weekly Club Raffle, I was looking forward to having a good day out for our monthly fishing trip, but ...you guessed it, when I returned home tonight, there was a message on the phone to inform me that due to Storm activity and rising seas, the Master of our fishing boat has decided that it wasn't safe to go out fishing tomorrow,so I do not have to get up early tomorrow morning, I already had all the gear ready, and the alarm clock set to wake me up at 2.00am, that I have now turned OFF.

Here are a couple of photos

the lemon tree.

On Sydney Harbour

SYDNEY HARBOUR------ Sunday March,11 2007
Today my wife and I spent some time on the harbour, at first taking a walk around Circular Quay, taking in the views of the harbour and all the boats, big and small, moving around; we then boarded a Catamaran Ferry that took us to Watsons Bay, where we had a very nice seafood lunch, by the wharf and small beach.
We then spent a couple of hours at our daughter's and son in law's place,(they live in nearby Rose Bay) we watched the grandchildren swimming and having fun in the pool, and in the late afternoon, made our way back home.
It was a most enjoyable day out!

I have included some photos that I took around the harbour.

Back after one Week

I missed out on posting a Blog last week, but I'm back with one this week! As it has become the norm, last week I missed out once again on winning a prize at the Raffle,
but tonight I somehow did manage to win a prize, a shoulder of pork, I think, not very good with cuts of meat, but it looks very nice. As you can see it looks quite nice.

As it turned out I collected 7 prizes, but only one was mine, as I was sitting next to a lady that was not quite mobile, because of a fall some time back, I was the "Collector" for her prizes! as I was walking past with all the different prizes, some of the other patrons at the Club, kept on telling me how "Lucky" I was! But I'm not conplaining, after all I did get a prize.

During the past week,I started to pick some of the olives from the olive tree, and started to bottle them,I have 4, 2 litre jars so far,the first lot should be ready to eat in about 3-4 weeks, some of the olives are starting to change colour, so I'll have to preserve them in a different way.

I also picked a couple of very nice Mangoes from our tree, there are another 8 or 9 almost ready
to pick also, all in all I have been somewhat busy, some of the lettuce are ready also.

Hope to have a few more pictures next week
Cheers
