BERALA SHOPS---NEW MEETING

Yesterday Saturday 26th, another meeting was held, to find out what ,if any, progress had been made on the recommencement of work, in the Berala Shopping Centre Development. Representatives of the Council, and the Developer were present, as were a number of elected members of Auburn Council, as was the local State Member of Parliament.

A number of the local residents, made their views known, and the common tread, was the NEED to have the Shopping Centre project, built, so that Berala could return to a normal friendly Suburb, with all the amenities that the local Community needs, and wants!

There seems to be quite a number of issues, between the Developer and the Council, and neither seems to be prepared to sit down and REALLY make an effort to resolve the issues involved.

In an effort to have the work restarted, and have the Centre built, the local Member of Parliament, Mrs. Barbara Perry, suggested that an independent qualified person, acceptable to both the Council and the Developer, be brought in, so that all points in dispute can be clarified, and resolved, the motion was put to the meeting, and it was passed by a large majority, it was also suggested that the cost of employing that person, be shared by both the Developer and the Council.

Lets hope that with goodwill on the part of all parties concerned, all the differences and problems, will be resolved, and the Shopping Centre Development, will be a reality, not just a PROJECT

WYD2008 WEEK

The Pope arriving for the Papal Mass

WYD2008

Today saw the end of a very successful World Youth Day week, even the rain stayed away giving the Pilgrims a great opportunity to move around Sydney, and enjoy and take part on the great number of activities planned for them, giving many the chance to make new friends, many of which will last for many years to come.

I was sent quite a number of photos that were taken early this morning, just as a lot of the Pilgrims were waking up, after having "Slept under the stars" the previous night, the sky was overcast, and that kept the overnight temperatures, just a little less cold, that would have been otherwise.

An estimated 500,000 people attended the final Mass this morning
Madrid in Spain will be the venue for the next WYD in 3 years time

Another big day for WYD 08, and a very busy day for His Holiness Pope Benedict, I think that more than half the population of Sydney watched the television broadcast of the " Boat-r-cade" and the "Moto -r- cade",as the Pope moved to different parts of the city.

Well protected transport for His Holiness

Berala Parish preparing to receive the pilgrims

Some of the back packs ready to be distributed

More items for the pilgrims

Gourds 2007

Here are few of the GOURDS that I grew in the garden last year, I cleaned few of them, and then painted them with estapol, to bring out the natural colour.
They look quite nice, but I now have to decide what to with them, maybe grow some plants in them, some Cactus could go well in them.

Today my wife and I went to the City (we picked a cold day to do it) and quite a number of WYD 2008 PILGRIMS were to be seen around the City, and also on the trains.

We will be housing 3 WYD2008 participants for one week, from the 14th. of July!
I am sure that they will be quite happy with the accommodation.

I wish all the participants a happy stay in Sydney

Back to normal...next week

After the short trip to "Coffs" we have been " Baby sitting" four of our grandchildren, the parents will be returning on Sunday, after a short overseas holiday, so we'll be coming back home on Sunday afternoon, I have been returning home on different days, to feed our pets, and to make sure that all was well. and look at the garden..even if there isn't much to admire at the moment.
Last week, I also joined another "Fishing Club" with the Chester Hill RSL, they usually go fishing on the 1st. Sunday of the month, so that should give me another opportunity to go fishing, when the Dooleys club does not go out, for some reason or another..

It should give another chance of catching " No Fish": in which case I'll have no one to blame, but myself.

This evening I went back to the Dolleys Club, and the Raffle, and I did manage to win one prize, a tray of Pork Chops ?.

I don't usually eat Pork meat, but my better half likes it, so it won't go to waste!
Hope to have more news next week!
