Sunday 27th. Fishing Trip

The Sunday Fishing Trip was done on a great day, nice weather and fishing conditions
both the winds and tides were just right! The tide was just enough to keep the boat moving, without being too strong, and also the wind was just strong enough to ripple the surface, and once the sun came up, it was great,by ten o'clock, just about everyone had removed their coats, as it was getting too hot, just like an early Summer day, and it is only one week from the beginning of our Winter, and to top it all, everyone cought fish.....some more than others. I got six, so I was quite happy.
If I get at least one fish, I'm quite happy, and if I catch more, I'm happier. We had fish yesterday and this evening, fresh fish has a taste of its own.

Next month , I won't be going fishing, as my wife and I will be going to Phuket, to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary, I'm sure the fish won't mind waiting for another month!

I'll try to bring back quite a few photos of our holiday, and share some of them on the Blog with you!

See you all again next week

Meat is back in vogue

Looks like we'll be eating extra portions of meat in the coming week!
This is my prize from this week raffle, "one at the time is good fishing".
It was a "Basket of fruit last week"
This morning, I decided to cut the "Gourds" down, as the vine had died down,
the Gourds are still green, so I'm going to hang them up, out of the weather. and
wait for them to dry, and then I'll have to see what I can do with them.

Also tomorrow is Fishing Day, the weather looks fine, so we should be able to go out, and depending on the mood of the fish, I'm hoping to catch some......One or two or more..I hope!
I'll let you all know the result tomorrow or the day after.
Bye for now

Fruit Basket

Another popular prize from the weekly Raffle at Dooleys,

This evening I was lucky enough to win one of the prizes at Dooleys, a very popular basket of
fruit.

Most of Eastern Australia has received quite good falls of much needed rain,it should go a long way to help some of the farmers to plan their sowing, with renewed confidence, and the prospect of further rainfalls. In some parts of the country this has been the best rain that they have received in many years, with some luck, the Drought may be coming to an end.
Lets hope so, the man on the land is so dependent on the weather.

Baked Chokos--Recipe

You'll need 6-7 Chokos, 1 Egg, 2 Onions,Around 300 grams of lean Mince Meat, 1 cup grated Cheese, Celery, Basil, Parsley, Salt, Pepper, Oil.

(I found out that it is better to use young Chokos, peeled and boiled for about 10 minutes.)

Cut Chokos in half, remove seed and also scoop out some of the "flesh" from around the seed, to make room for the filling!

Peel and cut Onions finely, place them in a frying pan with some oil, cook the onions until they change colour, then remove from fire, and put in a container.

Add more oil to the frying pan, add mince meat and cook for around 10-15 minutes, then add the onions previously cooked, also the chillies, celery finely chopped, parsley, cook for a further 10 minutes, then remove from the fire and let cool in a bowl, when the mixture has cooled, add the egg, cheese, salt and pepper, and mix it all together.

Then place the meat mixture in the two half's of the chokes, and re- join them. To make sure they don't come apart, use two tooth picks, to hold them together.( the tooth picks are easily removed afterwards)

Place the chokes with the filling in an oven-proof dish, put a little oil on top of the chokes and place in the oven (on 180 fan forced) cook for around 45 minutes, or until they are cooked.

I tried baking them with the skin on, but unless they are very young, the skin tends to become too hard when cooked in the oven.

Enjoy them
