Cannoli Siciliani

Ricotta Cannoli

Today I made some Ricotta Cannoli, I used about 1/2 Kg. of ricotta, 200gms. of sugar, mixed nuts, glazed mxed fruit, choc bits, 1/2 table spoon of liqueur (what I found), the shells were ready made ones, also some lemon rind, and strips of glazed orange peel, (for decoration on top of the cannoli), and red and green glazed cherries, for the ends.and some castor sugar springled on top of the cannoli.

a couple shots of the finished product- ready to eat!

photo of the ingredients

Hope I did not leave anything out, they tasted just like the the cannoli I had in Sicily.....well nearly as good, but very nice just the same!

Back after a long break

The fishing trip to South West Rocks, was quite good, even if I did not break any records! I did manage to catch 2 "PEARLY" I had heard so much about this fish, but I thought that I would have returned home, without even seeing one, but on the last day, the skipper went out a long way, and despite the strong current, we were able to "hold' the bottom, using 2 pound sinkers, most of us managed to catch a few "Pearl" I think they are Sea Perches, they have 2 "pearls" spots just at the back of the head, my largest one just under 3 KG, quite large for my standards.
The first day, we caught quite a few Flatheads, but then had to go in early, as most of us were quite WET, and the rain was getting even heavier, on the second day the fishing was not too good either, due to the strong currents, then the skipper decided to have a "lay" day, hoping that conditions would be better for the last day, the currents were still quite strong, but he was able to find some nice fish for us, so we are booked to return again next year!

Last night I went to the Dooleys club, for the first time in a number of weeks, and my wife decided to come also, and just as well, as I drew one of the major prizes, and she picked this one,
A pair of Queen size sheets.
Tomorrow I am going fishing again, with the Chester Hill RSL Club, this time to Wollongong, hoping for a better result from what we usually get there!
