SATURDAY FISHING

This month we went fishing on Saturday instead of Sunday, as we had other things organized, and as it turned out, it was a good choice, also
the Raffle on Friday night gave a good result, I won a meat tray of rump steak,a popular prize.
The fishing trip saw me catching 12 fish, one of which weighed 1.5Kg. and
saw me getting the 2nd.prize, and a $10 dollar voucher (The winning catch weighed 2.0Kgs.)Better luck next time.

This is the meat tray
(1.5Kg.)

My catch on Saturday
12 fish,the largest also
weighed 1.5Kg. Looks
like I am stuck with that
weight.

Using the old computer, as the new one had a problem with the power supply, will get it back
tomorrow.
As with having problems with the new computer
(see comment of a couple of weeks back) It is not
a bad thing to have some problems,as when you
solve them, you learn, thus you increase your
knowledge......and I can do with a bit of that!

Thanks for logging on to Berala Patch

A Turkey for Christmas

Surprise, surprise, tonight I won a Turkey for Christmas, plus a tray of meat and sausages, I'm
happy about that, the Turkey will be ready to be picked up on December the 20th.if I remember
correctly, I won an "Ham" at about this time last year,so looks like my luck is in around this time of the year! The new computer is just about ready with most of the programs installed,so things should be a bit easier from now on.
The garden at BeralaPatch is going quite well, despite the lack of rain. Picked a handful of "early" figs this morning, very, very tasting, they are a few more, but after that we'll have to wait for a number of weeks, for the main crop to start maturing, the dwarf beans, have just started to flower, so we should have some young new beans to eat shortly!
No pictures today, as I'm still trying to sort out and re-locate the pictures on the computer.
Wishing everyone a great Weekend

New Computer-Fewer Blogs

A new computer= less blogs.

There is a lot of things to do on a new computer, trying to retrieve and copy things from the "old" computer and put them in the new one, a bit slow, but a bit at a time, I'm getting there, it is all for the best. The garden is going pretty well now, the beans are about to starting to produce flowers, I already sowed more beans, so that we'll have a continuous supply of fresh beans from the garden, we have picked quite a few zucchini, the "Choko" vine has reached the roof of the shed, so it is well on the way to produce lots of chokes in the coming months, the tomatoes are also looking good, apart from a couple of plants in a different part of the garden, that have wilted and died, probably from some root disease, I won't be planting tomatoes in that part of the garden for awhile.

On the occasion of the"Melbourne Cup" Eileen ( the Queen), pictured on the left with some friends in Nelsons Bay

And here during a show with (Elvis) on stage, they are all having a good time.

Here is my latest toy, a small "fish tank" and four inhabitants, more work to be done away from the garden, but relaxing.

Hope to have something better for next week

Meat Tray

After a long dry spell, I finally had a win in the club raffle.
A nice tray of meat.
Now that the "Dry" run has been broken, things could get
better, lets hope so.

As promised I have now enclosed one fig tree with some
netting, as I usually do every year around this time.

I place four garden stakes around the tree that has to
be protected from the birds, then place the ends of 2
long plastic pipes in them and bend them as to to make
a cross at the top, and tie them together, for added strenght,

I then stretch the net over it and make sure that it reaches
the ground and is pegged down.

This morning I picked the first fig, and gave it to the "Queen" Eileen, she missed out on them last year, because she was
visiting her other Kingdom. It goes to show, one cannot have
everything

And to finish, I must not forget to wish AUDREY a Happy birthday for Monday the 6th.

Wishing everyone a nice week, and GOOD luck for the Melbourne Cup

Congratulations Cecilia

Congratulations Cecilia, this is just one example of your very creative and much appreciated work. This is how Eileen set out your "Maltese Lace",I had something to do with it....I placed
the glass on top of it! It is a great reminder of your gift to Eileen and of the work that went into making it.

Again COGRATULATIONS and keep the good work up.

Thank you

One at the time-is good catching

Last Sundays fishing trip report! Not much to report actually, but I'll see what I can say. Being the first day of daylight saving, we all had less sleep than would ordinarily would have been the case, nevertheless we all got to the boat on time, but guess what...the skipper slept in, so we left the wharf about 15 minutes late,as soon as we left the shelter of the harbor,we soon realized that there was quite a big swell running, close inshore, but it went down the further we went away from the coast, when we started fishing, without, too much success, we moved a couple of times and then the wind gradually increased, anti got quite cold, but after a couple of hours, it again changed and smoothed the seas right down. As far as my own fishing went, well.... it was not good, I managed to bring (3) fish into the boat, but two managed to unhook themselves and slide out of the boat and back where they rather be...in the water, but all wasn't lost, I did bring ONE fish home and my wife said it was very nice!

There it is, a nice Flathead, and apart from the eggs, it also a crustacean (where did I get that from ?)in its stomach.
Some of the others on board had a reasonable day, I think the highest catch, was 13 fish, somewhat better than mine!

Back on land, during the past week, just about all the cactus have started to flower, whilst make very beautiful flowers, they only last a few days.
